Light Scalpel

Our newest addition to the office is the extraordinary and powerful Light Scalpel Laser! Highly sought after by cosmetic dentists and plastic surgeons, this CO2 laser allows for a bloodless and instant cautery of tissues.

Why do we offer the Light Scalpel Laser?

Our mission is to ensure that all our patients have access to the latest advancements in medical technology, meeting their medical needs with exceptional care and convenience.

Dr. Patel frequently heard from patients who faced significant challenges finding an "in-network" dentist capable of performing a frenectomy for their child. Many had to travel long distances—sometimes to cities like Tampa or Miami—and faced exorbitant costs, including separate charges for office visits and the procedure itself.

We understand that breastfeeding with a tongue tie can be incredibly painful and uncomfortable for mothers, often leading to difficulty in weight gain and poor suction for the baby. To address these issues, Dr. Patel is committed to offering frenectomies in our office, alleviating the stress of traveling and searching for a provider.

Our Goals:

  • Eliminate the need for long-distance travel and reduce the associated stress for parents.

  • Enhance breastfeeding and bonding experiences between mothers and their babies.

  • Relieve pain for mothers and improve overall breastfeeding comfort.

  • Support the baby's weight gain and well-being.

  • Provide affordable care by accepting most insurances and offering cost-effective options for self-pay patients.

  • By bringing this procedure in-house, we aim to make high-quality care more accessible and affordable, ensuring that every family can receive the support they need right here.

About this laser:

  • American Made

  • 10.6-micrometer CO2 laser

  • CLEARED by the FDA for soft tissue surgical procedures

Benefits of Light Scalpel:

  • Minimized Bleeding: As it vaporizes the tissue, the LightScalpel laser seals small blood vessels. This great reduction in bleeding makes surgical procedures quick and easy. In many cases, no sutures are required.

  • Less Swelling and Discomfort: The LightScalpel CO2 laser beam seals lymphatics, resulting in less post-operative swelling and discomfort associated with traditional scalpel surgery.

  • Reduced Risk of Infection: The sanitizing effect of the laser reduces the risk of infection and means faster healing.

  • Shortened Surgery Time: Less bleeding results in the improved visibility of the surgical field. The surgeon and the team do not have to spend much time trying to control the bleeding, and as a result, the duration of the surgery is reduced.

  • Faster recovery: Reduced trauma, minimized bleeding, less pain and swelling, and shorter periods of anesthesia mean, in most cases, you can go back to work or school the same day.

  • Reduced Risk of Scarring: Several studies have shown that CO2 laser-irradiated areas, (compared to traditional methods) heal with less wound contraction and scarring due to the reduced amount of myofibroblasts at the surgical site.

  • Advanced laser tools mean better results: The lightweight ergonomic hand pieces and flexible fiber waveguide of the LightScalpel CO2 laser allow for enhanced precision with pinpoint accuracy. Also, LightScalpel accessories significantly facilitate surgeries in difficult to reach places.

Biolase Laser

Our office is very unique because we have a in-house Biolase laser, which "harnesses the advantages of laser technology to make dental procedures far more comfortable for patients."

It is a small hand held laser we use to perform simple procedures, including tongue tie releases. This laser uses low-level laser energy and has two portable batteries, each lasting for an hour. Tongue Tie release usually take 5-10 minutes to perform.
